This year, is the year of the Witch (again.) Going back to the root of Halloween, the witch defines the pagan holiday known as Samhain, the fourth and best holiday of the year when the veil between this world and the spirit world is at it’s thinnest allowing spirits to cross over for the day. It’s a day to rejoice being alive, give thanks and celebrate, remember and contact the dead as witches chant in rituals and (try to) fly on their broom sticks. The beginning of the Wiccan New Year and the start of winter, it’s the day to pay tribute to those dead and openly celebrate all things creepy.
As you can tell, this kind of stuff excites me completely and oh how I’m intrigued by it.
This year Halloween falls on a Uni day, so my witch costume will be a little more down played and a little more Coven style. So here i’ve collected a few inspiration images to get things going.
Sometimes makeup counters will make your life easier and package every product safely in tape and plastic leaving only testers opened. But sometimes at some counters every product will be open, not packaged or sealed in any way and that’s when things get frustrating. Not everyone who looks at those counters will be considerate enough to only test the testers, and the non-testers will sometimes be grimy, gross and so obviously used too. So when you find a product that you really want, but almost every one left is unsealed, how can you tell which one hasn’t been used to safely buy it?
Just a few short day’s ago Into The Gloss’ founder Emily Weiss introduced another new project to the internet, branching from and expanding on ITG. It’s called Glossier and it’s essentially an extension to the ITG brand in more way’s than one.
As part of a collaborative project for school, I take to the streets of Melbourne with a fellow writer in search of street style. With a camera in my hand, a notebook in her’s we go on a hunt to try and find the cutest style that can illustrate what Melbourne is all about. And while some photo’s are used for said project, the left over’s get their own spot here on The Rivaux as apart of a new segment I’ll be running here for (as long as i can) called 5 Minute Street Style with just a few snaps of what we find.
